This personalised home history gift includes the real story behind the house you live in, and makes a fascinating personalised anniversary or birthday gift.
I pace round my house dreaming of who used to live there, what they experienced and what noises echoed around. Our house histories make really unusual alternative gifts for a family or history lover.
Just give us the house number or house name and postcode and we will do the rest!
The newspaper style includes three vintage adverts from c1900. You choose which town Jesse Bird is based in.
Each individually researched house history contains sections on local history, who lived at the property or who were its neighbours, a detailed vintage reproduction map and a personalised message to the recipient.
Your message will appear at the end of the print. You can include any message (up to 160 characters) eg 'Records indicate my wonderful mother, Kathleen lives here; patient, generous, partial to the odd gin or two and the most brilliant Victoria Sponge baker ever!'
If this is a gift you can also order a special gift card with your own personal message inside! The card is A6 folded size
If the house being researched was built prior to 1911 we will try and find details of some of the people who lived there and include some of them on the house history. This gives an interesting insight into the house in years gone by and the sort of numbers of people who lived there and their jobs.
Please note we will not be providing details of every resident who lived in the house and our research focuses mainly on the census returns of 1911 and before.
For those houses built after 1911, we will carry out similar research and look to the nearest inhabited roads in 1911 and before to find out details of neighbours.
In either case, there are fascinating insights into the character of the area in years gone by, the sort of residents, occupations and social history.
After the census of 1911, we have to rely on newspaper cuttings and phone directories and so no guarantee can be given that anyone will be found. We try to find later records but unfortunately this doesn't always yield results - and we don't want to make facts up!
NOTE: We cover addresses in England, Wales and Scotland only. For Scottish addresses, records are only available for residents from 1901 and before. If the property was built after 1901 we will include details of neighbours in houses which existed in the area in 1901 or before.
