Botanical Illustration Card - Horse Chestnut - Aesculus Hippocastanum.
Inspired by botanical field notes and vintage apothecary style.
These cards would make a lovely gift. A great set to keep on hand for emergencies too for nearly missed birthdays, engagements, regrets, weddings, or my favourite - just to say "hello".
Eight designs, each with a 100% recycled brown ribbed envelope.
All cards are printed in house (trimmed and folded by my own loving hands) on thoughtfully selected 100% recycled card stock.
Although common across the UK, the Horse chestnut is native to the Balkan peninsula and was first introduced from Turkey in the late 16th century. The white and pink flowers bloom in May and conkers fall in autumn. It is great for wildlife as the flowers provide a rich source of nectar and pollen to insects, particularly bees. Caterpillars of the triangle moth feed on its leaves, as well as the horse chestnut leaf miner moth, whose caterpillars provide food for blue tits. Deer and other mammals also eat the conkers.
Greetings (folded card) A6 - 10.5cm wide x 14.85cm high.
