The weavers at Sabahar use a 4-harness loom to create the beautiful herringbone pattern, which also results in an extra thick and heavy blanket. Using more sophisticated looms is new for many weavers, and we are excited that they have perfected the design for the export market. The blankets are finished with tied fringes. This throw/ blanket is called "Mechot" which means cozy or comfort in Amharic, the language most spoken in Ethiopia. The throw blankets are just that- mechot!
