Our aim is to make easier to live sustainably and to create options you can love and use every day.
Authentic House began with my journey exploring how we can make our homes 'authentic' to our values. If we care about the planet, we don't want the items in our home to be harmful to the environment.
Even better, I soon began to discover the joys of sustainable products - the natural textures, swirls of colour and the connection to handmade products.
This is something we'd love to offer you. In our range you'll find handmade clay and botanical soaps, shampoo bars and creamy moisturisers made from organic ingredients. We have scented washing up bars, tealights and bath bombs scattered with petals.
All our products are made in collaboration with craftspeople, often working from home. We use sustainable ingredients and increasingly organic where we can source it. Our packaging is recyclable and biodegradable.
Authentic House has been featured in Stylist, The Guardian and British GQ.
About us
I (Alice) began Authentic House in 2018 after making the leap from living in Edinburgh to move back to Cardiff and begin a social enterprise. After researching ways to create an eco-friendly home, I began a subscription box with the kind help of The Prince's Trust.
As Authentic House developed, I began working on our own products. This meant building relationships with makers and designing our logo which is stamped onto most of our bars. We've had great feedback for our range and are working on new products now, including our makeup pads and potentially products made from pineapple leather in the near future!
In 2020, Authentic House grew quickly. We were really lucky as my partner Daniel was able to work full-time with me. Since then, we've also had my sister Otilia join the team and are planning to move out of our home to our first studio in September. It's important to us to help restore the environment as we grow, and we've planted 2,800 trees and counting.
