As a child in the 70's, my mother dressed us all (five children, quite a handful) in matching towelling "Parkas" on the beaches in Cornwall. They kept us warm on windy, chilly days and always cosy after a swim.

I remember to this day, almost nostalgically how soft and comfortable they were to wear, how they felt against my skin and how I was always reluctant to take them off. When we grew out of them, she lovingly wrapped these sweet garments up, to keep safe and to hand on to her grandchildren.

It was only when I had children of my own that I realised how invaluable towelling beachwear was and I decided to design some of my own.

Althought Bridie & Bert is not just for the beach, our cover up robes definitely keep the chill out on cooler days and when the sun makes an appearance I am happy to say that they offer UV protection too!

Bridie & Bert is named after my oldest and youngest child, now grown up. Not forgetting my middle daughter, my women's range has been named Immy after her. So this is definitely a family affair; they all take an interest and never tire of my endless questions, "Which colours do you prefer, is the shape right, is this too long or too short etc etc?
