Beautfiul abstract art print featuring a colourful, exquisitely printed honeycomb design. Perfect gift for bee-keepers and people who like geometric patterns.
This is a rare Japanese woodblock print that would make an unusual, striking picture for a home. Because it is hand printed, the print quality is superb. There are pine needle straiting lines in the background, printed in yellow, two browns, dark blue and green. The background is mid brown - giving the print an earthy warm tone and the honeycomb pattern of hexagons uses the white of the paper. There are fourteen finely printed petals in shiny silver ink and a double outline inside each honeycomb hexagon in matt gold ink.
This original abstract artwork would suit someone with a liking for Japanese design, honey/bees and abstract patterns. It has somewhat of a magic-eye effect and is colourful and lively to look at.
The artwork is roughly a5 in size and would go nicely in a nook, or somewhere it can be admired close-up, like a stairway, hall, landing, WC or studio/office. It also works from afar, as the pattern is striking.
The honeycomb art print was reprinted in Japan in the 1960s. The artwork was originally printed in the early 1900s by Japanese design masters for a showcase magazine that was handprinted.
Choose to have this art print arrive in three ways, as is, simply a piece of paper; mounted (sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 " / 25.4 x 20.3 cms frame) or framed. The black and gold frame pictured is made from responsibly sourced timber with real glass from Dunhelm.
Advice for hanging: original artwork should not be hung above radiators / heat sources, nor in damp or steamy rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms or conservatories.
