Beautiful rare Japanese woodblock print showing tree festooned islands coloured pale blue and pink, striating a black and gold night sea.
This wonderful handmade landscape print would make a lovely special gift. The gold curving waves make it look especially luxuriant.
The artwork is roughly a5 in size and would suit an alcove, stairway, hall or landing so that it could be admired close-up. The tree trunks and ocean waves are finely printed. However, it also works as an abstract print from afar if it were hung in a lounge.
There is a subtle sense of horizonal movement in this composition - you can imagine the waves jiggling and the curves of the island shores and treetops present a relaxing collection of rounded shapes.
The art print was reprinted in Japan in the 1960s, being originally printed in the early 1900s for a famous design project.
To buy art online is a leap of faith, however, I hope you can see from the close-up images, this Japanese woodblock print is worth leaping for.
Choose to have this art print arrive in three ways, as is, simply a piece of paper; mounted (sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 " / 25.4 x 20.3 cms frame) or framed. The black and gold frame pictured is made from responsibly sourced timber with real glass from Dunhelm.
Advice for hanging: original artwork should not be hung above radiators / heat sources, nor in damp or steamy rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms or conservatories.
