It's not only the basil, sage + mint extracts that come through in this BLOCK, but a complex Patchouli base and surprisingly aniseed spice.
On inhalation, Basil is thought to transmit messages to the limbic system, a brain region involved in the nervous system – controlling heart rate, stress levels, blood pressure and breathing. Aromatherapists use it to calm emotions and Alternative Therapists use it to help with depression. Interestingly, this is the ingredient that brings the aniseed spice notes. Who knew!
Sage has been found by modern studies to improve memory and cognition, though also used in traditional medicine as an antidepressant and anti-stressor.
The most potent herb in this BLOCK is Peppermint – with it’s top note dishing a good “wake-up!” Used to quash headaches, clear the mind and boost energy, it’s caffeine-free caffeine!
Patchouli Essential Oil is distilled from the herb Pogostemon Cablin, commonly known as Stink Week and Pucha Pot. As with Basil & Sage, it is used in natural treatments as an antidepressant, relaxing tension and physiologically stimulating serotonin and dopamine.
