Victorian Pocket Puzzle with beautiful calligraphy, ink & watercolour designs. Ideal Anniversary, Wedding keepsake gift.
The puzzle purse design became popular during the Victorian Era. It was often used as a Valentine, adorned with lines of poetry, personal love notes, and delightful drawings. Also used to conceal a gift such as a piece of jewellery or a lock of hair.
My Origami love tokens will make a lovely Anniversary or Wedding gift or even a birthday or engagement or just to let someone special know you love them! Unfold it to reveal love quotes, pretty drawings and a special poem inside.
This is a unique and original design, featuring my own beautiful calligraphy, hand-drawn, sketched, inked and painted in watercolour inks. I print my pen and ink design onto good quality watercolour paper and individually colour each one in watercolour inks before carefully folding the love note and packing in a small gift box.
One side features LOVE in circus style colourful letters surrounded by love quotes and small illustrations of leaves and hearts.
The other side is based on John Lennon’s line, “all you need is love” and when opened features a wreath of roses and violets. The message inside is from the 1784 poem, Gammer Gurton’s Garland:
“The Rose is Red, the violet is blue, The honey is sweet and so are you. Thou are my love and I am thine.”
A personal note can be handwritten in the centre inside as an alternative to the classic 'Rose is Red' poem, or you may leave it blank to write your own.
I can mail the puzzle purse card directly or send it to you, whichever you prefer.
The gift box is adressed 'To my Valentine' in white modern script. Please add a note if you wish instead for a name to be written on the gift box.
