A funny Scottish card to wish someone congratulations
A delicate watercolour and pen illustration of a famous statue in Glasgow,
Outside the Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art stands a statue of the Duke of Wellington mounted on his trusty horse. The statue is by Italian artist Carlo Marochetti and was erected in 1844.
At some point in the 1980’s a tradition began of Glaswegian’s challenging each other to place a cone upon his head.
Therefore, despite the Council’s best efforts, he is nearly always seen with his unusual adornment.
There is short summary of the cone story on the rear of the card.
