A beautiful refillable leather book cover for an A5 journal, diary, sketchbook, recipe book or notebook.
These covers will make an delightfully unique gift and are designed for many purposes. Our most popular variations are; Travel Journals; and Quote Books, used to record for posterity the precious or funny quotes and sayings of young children, Diary covers and Notebooks.
Each carefully handmade leather cover features lettering and unique designs made from hand created punches. It is expertly stitched with durable and strong thread and will hold an A5 (portrait-format) sized book or notepad, which can also be supplied on request.
Each cover has compartments on the inside which will accommodate and secure the front and back cover of the book it will hold.
Variations
This item can be personalised with a name or monogram for all variations or can be made without lettering. A choice of letters and numbers, individually hand-stamped onto the leather, are available, but can also be made without any lettering. (Please note that due to the hand-stamped nature of this service, character placement and spacing will vary and be of an 'organic' nature - see images).
We recomend the use of our delightful antique bookbinding 'blocking' stamps to apply the letters and words, which will impart a lovely quirky quality to the text, that is not achievable with mass-produced items. These letters are all uppercase, with a mixture of sizes and fonts and are applied individually by hand to the leather.
We also have an ordinary non-serif font (Helvetica 18pt) that can be imprinted in straight lines, normally at the bottom right of the front cover. Personalisation is for letters, numbers and a selection of basic punctuation (eg: . , ? ! [ ] : ; " " ' ' % * ) Dates are punctuated with dots/stops. We can't currently provide the @ or # signs or forward or backward slashes.
All antique bookbinding 'blocking' text is uppercase only. Popular words for lettering are: JOURNAL; TRAVEL JOURNAL; DIARY; THOUGHTS; RECIPES; SKETCHES; QUOTES; NOTES, but other can be requested.
Helvetica can be either UPPERCASE letters or Sentence Case (lower & upper case).

Dimensions
A5 blank book insert & 'DSay-to-view' diary: When the cover is laid flat it is Approx. H23.2cm x W35cm - It is slightly over A5 in size when holding the A5 book insert.
NB: your choice of Diary insert (the type and size) may result in an increase/descrease of bookcover dimensions - eg: the 'week to view' option will mean we need to decrease the overall width of the bookcover to accomodate the narrower depth of your choice to approx W34cm
Versions that are made with 'size-change' options will have different dimensions to the standard A5 version and will be dependant on which extra options are selected. The A4 option will hold an A4 notebook and the A5 version which has an increased depth capacity will be around 1.5cm longer than standard.
Made from
Any 'Lines & Circles' requested as an embossed design into the leather are placed by hand and will vary in size, tone or colour depending on the base leather selected. 'Circle' embossing is usually available on black, Chestnut and Hazel leather ONLY.
Leather and suede - NB: As an organic material leather has unique features and textures. Our leather is a high quality 'top surface' bridle leather and although we have very high standards when it comes to sourcing the leather, your item may have variations of texture & tone from the images and colour samples shown, due to batch variations
All book/diary inserts are subject to availability - and please note that your choice of Diary insert (the type/size) may increase or descrease the dimensions of the bookcover slightly - eg: the 'week to view' option will mean we need to decrease the size/depth from the 'day to view' option.
The pen holder loop is a generic size - any smaller and larger loops need to be be specifically requested at the time of order.
