Bring the language of flowers to life with a floriology inspired original linocut.
Floriology is ancient folklore wisdom which attributes a seasonal flower to each month of the year much like birth stones, with the qualities of each bloom said to be characteristic of people born in that month. The flowers have been illustrated in these linocuts, to create artwork which is meaningful and also a reminder of the beauty in nature.
Linocut prints are a wonderful way to start an art collection- they are hand printed so are original, unique pieces of art. The tiny variations within each print make them truly unique.
Throughout history, different cultures have used flowers as subtle symbols in art and even used them to convey secret messages. Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Chinese, Europeans, and many more all have developed their own language of flowers. Every print comes with an explanation of that particular flower. Lovely for a unique birthday gift or a new baby, each print comes with a card making it really easy to present. If you'd like it gift wrapped, this is free of charge an can be selected at the checkout.
These prints are individually handmade from carved blocks of lino, printed in black ink on Italian cotton rag Amatruda Amalfi paper, and will be sent loose and unframed, or framed in a black wood and glass frame measuring 10 x 12".
Each print is accompanied by a beautiful card hand printed from a further linocut carved to represent one of the month's special flowers. Prints and cards are signed, and will be sent flat in a protective envelope, or carefully wrapped in compostable bubble wrap if you choose the framed option.
