Let food be thy medicine & medicine be thy food
KitchenJoy is a Cookery School with a difference; providing cookery courses that combine experiential learning of culinary skills with a medicinal foundation to promote health and wellbeing. Each session has a specific focus from learning to boost your immune system and energy levels, cooking with anti-inflammatory ingredients, good food moods, living with a gluten free diet, to cooking for healthy brain function. Using nutritional pillars to inspire the recipes, seasonal ingredients are locally sourced and specifically selected to promote wellbeing.
Our classes are open to individuals with all levels of knowledge, expertise and interests! You only have to have the passion and we will engage you in our nutritional values, whilst developing your culinary skills, so that you can begin cooking the best food for you at home. All our courses are based on the principle that fresh, natural ingredients are core to good health.
We can all relate to the feeling of low energy, lack of inspiration and feeling underwhelmed by eating the same meals over again. KitchenJoy can diversify your cooking repertoire, not only to excite your tastebuds but also to fuel your body with the nutrients it needs to thrive. It is KitchenJoy’s aspiration to share knowledge of nutritional skills and easy to follow recipes in a fun and interactive way so that you may incorporate these into your daily cooking and eating behaviours.
Each session combines an educational element, demonstration and hands on cooking. Alongside trying out dishes in the class, the group enjoy a sit down meal, along with samples to take home. You will feel inspired and confident to take these recipes home with you to experiment and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
Joy is a highly experienced cook, with her knowledge of many cuisines from living in far flung countries across the world. She studied Natural Medicine at Westminster University in homeopathy, herbal & Chinese medicine, and more recently food-related courses at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) in Richmond. Joy is passionate about food and the impact it has on health and well-being and opened her medicinal cookery school in Chiswick last year.
When booking a course, please let me know your dietary requirements and allergies. All courses can be adapted to take these into consideration.
Our cookery classes include the ingredients, food preparation and cooking equipment, and drinks. You will prepare and cook dishes around the KitchenJoy island and can enjoy eating your dishes together with the group on the long dining table. There will also be some left over foods for you to take home to share with your loved ones.
