Contemporary handmade ceramics
I’m Sarah, the design maker behind Kiwi and Pips ceramics. After first experimenting with clay as a child, I came back to it later in life and took a series of evening classes before finally gathering the courage to set up my home studio.
Ceramics has given me a creative outlet and made me feel more connected and mindful to my world. It forces me to focus on the feel of the clay and the creative process and I find happiness in making something beautiful and exposing the natural qualities of the clay through the finished pieces.
I hand build and glaze all my pieces using a broad range of techniques. I use a speckled stoneware which fires to a beautiful creamy colour. Every piece will have slight variations that will give it character and make it unique!
My brand is inspired by a love of Scandinavian design and my style is relaxed and minimalist, exploring the contrast between raw and glazed clay.
My work practices are designed around minimizing waste and being more energy efficient. All clay scraps are saved and recycled and any waste is disposed of responsibly. My kiln is a modern, energy efficient model.
Pieces are carefully dispatched in packaging with a low impact on the planet we live on.
