Each print hand-finished with genuine gold leaf, emphasising that kindness is simply about being decent human beings — and what a way to say so!
Gift a message of kindness with this positive-driven poster, or treat yourself to a daily reminder. Based on an original design Em had created on glass with paint and gold leaf.
With bold typography referenced from the 1912 ‘Suffragette demonstrations handbill’ by George Baker, and the colours playing homage to the Suffragette’s colour scheme — purple for loyalty and dignity, green for hope, and yellow or gold for light and life. The quote itself is taken from a modern-day suffragette, Mary Portas, and her book ‘Work Like a Woman: A Manifesto For Change’, 2018.
The print itself is created using a two-colour risograph, a Japanese printing process that is similar to screen-printing. The halftone pattern (teeny-tiny visible dots) creates a beautifully tactile finish. The printing method itself is energy efficient and sustainable and the cold process consumes little energy. The riso printer prints with eco-friendly plant-based (non-toxic) inks, and the stencils made from plant fibres.
Each print has been hand-lettered in a casual style with the word ‘human’, and embellished further by surface gilding with 18ct lemon gold leaf. This additional layer not only strengthens the sentiment itself but will naturally differ, creating an individual bespoke piece of art in every instance.
