Hello, I'm Liddy Parry and I'm an illustrator based in Buckinghamshire. I started my career by creating digital illustrations on an iPad using a basic stylus and drawing app. I loved the way a quick sketch could capture so much detail and expression, with just a few strokes of the stylus. I then swapped my stylus for scissors and started to explore the wonderful medium of paper, from there I was smitten and my Paper People were born!

I like to reuse papers as well as using new paper. I'm forever collecting pieces of paper, keeping gift wrap, gift tags and anything else that captures my eye. These preloved papers are kept in my ever growing paper box just waiting for the moment when I say "ah where's that piece of paper it would be perfect for those shoes!"

Each piece of paper is cut out, assembled, sometimes stitched and stuck by hand to create a truly handmade Paper People portrait. No two Paper People can ever be the same as each individual piece is cut out by hand, with scissors, without the use of a template.

The best way to describe what I do is 'drawing with scissors' as I never use a pencil or pen to draw out any part of my work. I absolutely love the little details which can be achieved with a little thought, a lot of patience and a clever little snip here and there.
