MAKING IS FUN AND DESIGN MATTERS

I'm Chloe, the designer and maker behind Make & Matter.

For me, making is fun and design matters.

And that is how it's always been ever since I was little. With my mother a potter and my grandmother an art lover, making things at home was easy and encouragement aplenty. By age 5, my passion was clear and my path laid out before me.

After finishing up with Art School in 2010 with a degree in design and raring to go, I worked with a range of factories across the UK to produce my designs. This was great, however in 2016 I realised how much I missed the thing I had always loved the most, making things myself and getting my hands dirty! So I decided it was time that I dust off my overalls and launched Make and Matter, the brand behind which I design and make a home decor accessories in my North London studio.

I work mainly in concrete with a simple yet elegant aesthetic that allows the quality of the materials and process to do the talking. The nature of the materials and small batch production methods means that no two pieces are ever identical and slight variations in tone and finish contribute to the uniqueness and beauty of each piece.
