Over 100,000 years ago, a handful of mysterious Muonionalusta meteorites impacted earth. Many have searched for the impact crater from the original shower and have failed. In recent years, in a remote area of northern Sweden, the site where these specimens are was found. It is presumed that they were carried there by glaciers. We are lucky enough to have a long-standing relationship with expert meteorite hunters, which is why we can offer such unique pieces.
The meteorites are extremely rare and they are almost always buried! Only fossil-hunters with a licence can excavate these precious artifacts, which makes them incredibly hard to come by. We will provide a certificate of origin and authenticity with piece of meteorite jewellery.
Iron Nickel meteorites, like the Muonionsalusta start as the very core of a planet. The amazing Widmanstätten patterns (metallic grids in silver) are formed only in space. The molten centre of a planet’s core is cooled to form this metal at one degree per million years, then when the iron is removed the striking nickel crystal formations can be seen.
Meteorite was considered far more valuable than gold in Ancient times. Tutankhamen was even found with meteorite daggers in his tomb. The ancient myth of Thor’s hammer has been attributed to prized rare meteorite too.
Martha Jackson's meteorite and silver Saturn necklace comes in a elegant textured presentation box complete with information card and certificate of authenticity.
