Originally built in 1923 by the London and North East Railway (LNER) in Doncaster, the Class A3 Pacific steam locomotion No 4472 was designed for long distance journeys and was most notably used on the 10am London to Edinburgh service from which it gained its name. Following its retirement in 1963 it continued to be much loved and is now part of the National Railway Museum collection and the most famous train in the world. This gloriouusly illustrated book looks back at the history of the Flying Scotsman.
