Variations

Presented on a sterling silver necklace, this beautiful handmade, autumn coloured fused glass pendant measures approximately 2cm x 2cm. The pendant is smooth to the touch and flashes green and gold as the wearer moves.

Although we put a long dispatch time on these pieces, we aim to create the piece and dispatch it within seven working days from receiving the ashes.

After the ashes arrive, you can expect your piece to be completed within 7 working days. The long dispatch times are due to customers sometimes needing some time to be ready to send the ashes.

Our process for creating your memorial jewellery with ashes:

1. Order your memorial jewellery piece.

2. Post 1/4tsp of the ashes to our Cumbrian studio. Our address will be on your confirmation email.

3. Hannah kiln fuses your loved ones ashes into the glass.

4. Your unique piece of glass jewellery and any unused ashes will returned to you by special delivery.

Your memorial jewellery piece will be complete within 7 days of the ashes arriving at our studio.

Your bespoke jewellery and any unused ashes will be returned to you by special delivery.

Made from

Sending the ashes...

Please send a small amount of ashes to our address in Cockermouth, which you'll find on your order confirmation email. 1/4tsp of ashes in a ziplock bag is ideal.

How the jewellery is made...

I will place the ashes you send between two layers of glass - a colourful dichroic glass base and a clear glass top. I'll then fuse the two glass layers together in my kiln, sealing the ashes into the pendant.

Once the glass is fused, the ashes will be subtly visible. You can see an example in the image of the large, autumn-coloured commemorative ring.

I create memorial jewellery to help you commemorate relatives and much loved pets. I find it an incredibly meaningful process. Some customers like to send over some photos or a few details about their loved one whose ashes I am working with. I always welcome more information if you'd like to send it.

Your finished memorial jewellery piece will come to you in a simple yet beautiful presentation box where you can store it while it's not being worn.

Your piece will be completed within 7 working days of me receiving your loved ones ashes.

All Mere Glass jewellery is made from a base of coloured, dichroic glass. Dichroic glass is coated with an incredibly thin layer of metal which creates luminous and intense colours in the jewellery which change as the wearer moves. The glass is has a wonderful clarity of colour in daylight then, as the light dims, it seems to glow.

Each piece of jewellery starts life as a large sheet of art glass which is cut to size by hand and decorated with paint and glass shards. Pieces of glass are layered to create the basic form of the jewellery and then fired in the kiln to fuse the layers together. Some pieces are fired more than once to ensure the jewellery shows its best possible colour.

Our jewellery is all finished with sterling silver jewellery findings for the highest quality and comfort for the wearer.

Caring for your jewellery...

Fused glass is incredibly strong! Try not to drop the glass onto hard surfaces and it will last a lifetime.

Sterling silver tarnishes in the air or when it is coated with other products. To keep the silver shiny, we recommend

- taking it off before swimming

- making it the last thing you put to to avoid spraying it with perfumes, hairsprays etc.

- keeping it in its box when it's not being worn.

- giving it a gentle clean with a silver cleaning cloth every so often to keep it looking its best.
