Originally designed in 1901 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his wife Margaret MacDonald Mackintosh for a German architecture competition, the house was actually built in 1989–1990
Charles Rennie Mackintosh was and still is one of Scotland’s best known architects and artists, who also designed interiors, furniture, textiles and metalwork
He developed his own style which pre-empted Art Nouveau
Glasgow School of Art is another of his most famous achievements
