Variations
The Oak we use for our doorstops is the same grade thats used to build timber framed houses (Tudor houses etc) that are still standing centuries later. Carefully stored under cover air drying, for a few years then cut to a rough shape. Then left until they have done most of their drying, twisting and moving and some character has appeared, it’s at this stage the door stop is cut to its final shape, squared up and sanded to a silky smooth finish. It's then ready to be personalised, even more sanding and then finally sealed with several coats of Waxoil.
Our Oak Doorstops are available in 7 different standard sizes (please see sizes available below), they can be blank without personalisation or can be personalised with anything you desire, your choice of words, lettering, or logo / Motif. You can choose to have just one, or up to all four faces engraved with words of your choice. Each Doorstop is truly individual, we always hand pick the Oak we use from suppliers for its outstanding grain pattern. The only thing that’s the same is the chunky handmade stainless steel ring or rope hoop handle.
All the Oak we use is always sourced from either local windfall trees or suppliers of FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) sustainably grown timber.

These door stops are made to order from seasoned English Oak.
As the material we use for these Doorstops can vary in shape, size and colour so much, each one is truly individual, the Oak used is always selected for its outstanding grain pattern and colour. The only thing that’s the same in each one is the chunky handmade stainless steel ring handle.
Sections of Oak this size will continue to season for decades, over the first few days/weeks or even months of being in its new home your doorstop will settle into its new environment, and depending on where it's being kept this may result in a few characterful splits appearing, this is all in the character of the wood and is its natural ageing process. It will not affect the function of the product and the handle will always stay secure.
We do not recommend using these doorstops on carpeted surfaces or in environments with underfloor heating/too close to the heat source of a centrally heated room i.e. radiators or open fires etc. If permanently kept inside, the maturing process of your doorstop will naturally be accelerated due to the constant warm, dry environment, and if kept outside the process will dramatically slow down.
Your new doorstop has low profile rubber feet recessed into the base to keep it off the ground, and help it grip the floor, also allowing an air gap beneath the doorstop (the air gap is important, we do not recommend these doorstops are used on carpeted surfaces).
If you would like a doorstop for a carpeted surface, please let us know, as we make the same doorstops from Kiln dried Oak.
Due to the nature of this product, we recommend unpacking upon receipt to allow the Oak to breath. On unpacking the doorstop, you might find that the protective packaging is damp to touch, this is completely normal, the wood has natural water content and the dampness is condensation/evaporation. Once unpacked, we recommend sitting your new doorstop on the two wooden battens for a couple of days at least, this will allow it to acclimatise to its new surroundings, and allow any moisture to evaporate from the base of the doorstop easily.
