How to measure your dog's neck for a leather dog collar
There are a couple of ways to measure your dog for a leather dog collar from Petiquette Collars.
The most important thing to remember though is NOT TO MEASURE THE TOTAL LENGTH OF AN EXISTING COLLAR.
The easiest method is to measure the circumference of your dog's neck using a soft tape measure or piece of string.
- Wrap a soft tape measure or piece of string around the middle of the neck so that it is fairly snug against the fur. Don't put any fingers underneath the tape measure.
- This measurement is your dog's neck size.
- Select a collar size where the neck measurement you have taken sits comfortably within the collar size range.
- For example, a collar with the a size range of 9"-11" can be adjusted to fit dog's with necks of sizes from 9" up to 11". If your dog has a neck measurement of 10", you would choose this size.
- DO NOT MEASURE THE TOTAL LENGTH OF A COLLAR, IT WILL RESULT IN YOU RECEIVING THE WRONG SIZE FOR YOUR DOG.
