The design originated when I gave my Mum one of my free-standing sculpted knife racks (non-magnetic) for Christmas. She loved it, but she struggled to find the worktop space so I designed this version to fit better in her compact kitchen.
In this design I have sawn a piece of wood showing both heartwood (orange - centre of tree) and sapwood (white - outer rings of tree) down the middle and glued the two pieces into a mirror image design.
It is the first time I have ever seen it done with the sapwood on the inside. I am really excited by the result. I won’t be able to do it very often because the edges of Yew trees are not usually straight enough to glue them like this without cutting into the heartwood.
There are keyhole slots for screws in the back, with a unique self-levelling mechanism to easily allow for the inevitable inaccuracies when drilling holes in a masonry wall.
Good quality screws and wall-plugs suitable for fixing the knife rack to most types of wall are included along with mounting instructions.
It is finished using a hard-wax oil made from natural oils and waxes designed for use on the best quality kitchen worktops.
Please note that the knives shown in the photos are not included.
Safety Note; This knife Rack, or any other magnetic knife rack, should only be fixed above a worktop, not directly above the floor.
