Geraldine's joyful creations are created for people who love animals, who appreciate excellent craftsmanship, innovation, quirkiness and style.
I'm a jewellery designer who used to be an animator, so I like to bring the impression of movement into my designs.
I believe that jewellery should be uplifting, tell a story, and make the wearer smile. A sense of fun and quirkiness is really important to my designs, and I love and am inspired by animals, trying to capture the essence of who they are and what they do.
My studio is a tricky place to work. I have to step over two slumbering dog who come into work everyday with me!
Everything is made by hand. I use silver, gold, copper and enamel, which is basically glass fused to metal under heat. On the one hand enamel is very tough (think of the London Undgerground signs), and on the other hand, quite delicate.
Each enamelled piece is unique, they are all made by hand, so even though I repeat my designs, each one will look ever so slightly different from the next because of the enamelling process. Their uniqueness is one of their selling points.
Everything is gift-packaged, and every piece is an eye-catching conversation starter!
Saba Jewellery - proudly supporting compassion
When a friend mine who is a BBC wildlife presenter described the charity Animals Asia as amazing, and its founder, Jill Robinson (OBE), as formidable, I knew I'd found what I was looking for.
For a long time I had been wanting to make my one woman business into more than a job that pays my way —I wanted Saba Jewellery to become an activist brand.
I've always had a thing for bears: their connection to the earth, their wildness, their power, their freedom. And in spite of the obvious differences between animals and humans, there is so much we have in common: a sense of joy, loyalty, community, love, pain, fear.
There are tens of thousands of Moon Bears suffering in the bile industry in China and Vietnam and I am determined to help them.
I recently signed a partnership agreement with Animals Asia and now, through my packaging, social media, website and exhibitions, I'm raising funds and awareness. I kick-started this with the launch of my Soul Friends Collection.
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to look at my store.
I make everything by hand at my workshop in Dublin. Some things take a little longer to make than others and I try to (and usually do) get my pieces sent out within a day or two of your order. Occasionally it takes longer than I anticipate but I would always contact you to let you know and to check if you were ordering for a specific date...and sometimes Royal Mail is slower than I would like, so I do appreciate your patience and your custom.
Thanks and kind regards,
Geraldine
