Julia Salts

Modern and unique papercuts.

Julia Salts was established in 2012 and is the work of Julia Charlton, an illustrator and maker based in the wonderful rhubarb triangle in West Yorkshire. Julia specialises in creating unique, handmade and personalised papercuts.

Initially creating wedding stationery it was only later that Julia branched out to focus on one-off pieces that reflect the fun and beautiful world around her. Being a busy wife, loving daughter, working Mum and socialite extraordinaire, finding inspiration is no problem.

'Every piece I make is inspired either by a person I know or an experience I've had. The most rewarding thing for me is to see someone recognise their story in my work. If I can then personalise it so that they are a part of the work, that's even better.'

"I'm in the US. My grandmother refused to be called regular names for 'grandmother' so I had to call her Mum. There's not much for a Mum here in the US. So, after 31 years, she finally gets a mother's day card with her moniker. Thanks!"

"I am absolutely thrilled with my invitations. The main design was exactly what we were looking for and with the chance to personalise in terms of colours and fonts etc. meant that the finished product was completely unique to us. Presentation brilliant, good quality stationary and arrived in perfect condition. The feedback from my friends who have received their invitations has been equally brilliant - they love them, as do I! So much better than the large companies standard designs. We're also planning to use Salt Cards again to do other wedding stationary. Highly recommend."
