Handmade from small off-cuts of recycled sari material, each decoration is completely unique.
They are made by women in the ancient walled city of Jaisalmer in the Great Thar desert in Rajasthan, NW India. They are sewn by women working at home using vintage treadle (foot operated) sewing machines. Our supplier Laxmi has been working with women from the local community for the last 30 years providing them with work to supplement their household income. It is very rare for women from the city to work outside their homes.
Each piece is unique and will usually have several types of sari sewn together to make a decoration that can be used on a tree, strung together or just hung somewhere to give a small space a pop of colour.
