Planning to convert a van into a camper? This is the course that puts the practical into your fantasy.
WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?
You bought the van, and now you think how nice it would be to fit it out. A campervan conversion. This is a one- or two-day course in just that. There are manuals out there, but it really does help to get some expert advice, especially if you are new to DIY, or you could use some help with plans for the layout, or just the basics — ‘How do I attach it to the van walls?’ sort of stuff. It could make the difference between ‘that’s nice’ and ‘where can we get one?’.
The course uses recycled materials and is an eye-opener into what you can create by yourself with some energy and guidance.
TELL ME MORE
Day one, and you will be tackling all the basics. That includes lighting options, plumbing, design, and layout. Day two will include practical sessions in metal cutting (you did say you would like a couple more windows?), working with gas, diesel heaters, or how to build a sink unit from scratch. The precise items covered will depend on what most interests participants.
Scott is your teacher, a man driven to upcycle. He has built and helped others build their vans over the past 20 years. A home on wheels is absolutely his favourite thing. Now, you may find quite a diverse range of skills among your fellow students, but this workshop is for beginners, and you aren’t expected to know anything. Scott is helpful, patient, and a great teacher — just the right person to give you encouragement before you start the build.
