Join Kate's pottery class in Brighton. Inspired by the beautiful Sussex countryside and coastline.
WHAT'S THIS POTTERY CLASS ALL ABOUT?
The countryside and coastline of Sussex provide the inspiration for Kate Brigden. Kate is an experienced potter, who works from a garden workshop just outside Brighton. If she had to choose one piece to design and create it would be a mug. ‘Everyone has a favourite mug. I love how one of my pieces might become that ‘favourite’, and used every day. Let’s face it, coffee tastes so much better in a handmade mug’.
So let’s start your pottery journey by learning how to make this potter’s selected piece. The humble mug. We know what she means. In the morning we all reach for the same one, and feel somewhat out of sorts when it goes missing.
This is a two-hour hand building session. Everything will be set up, ready to go, and if you think you already have enough mugs to start a coffee shop, then you have the option to create a vase, another design object that lifts a room. The piece you make will need to be fired, and so there is a bit of a wait until you can collect.
There are only a small number of students per class - 7 - so expect lots of hands-on, personal attention in a very relaxed convivial atmosphere.
And why stop at one? You could be one your way to a set.
