Personal time out. Be in the moment surrounded by woodlands. 4-hour Yoga experience and forest bathing in Brighton.
The South Downs are renowned as an area of outstanding natural beauty, and for good reason. Brighton is the destination and an easy day out from London.
If you opt for both yoga and forest time, then the day gets off to a tranquil start at ‘One Garden’. This is a walled community garden, and where you can eat, meet, enjoy the gardens or start to connect your body and mind with a feel-good yoga flow. A fifteen minute drive from the city centre, and well worth it, as you balance the breath, build strength and fluidity and s-t-r-e-t-c-h out. Feeling better already?
The surrounding woodlands are where you will be heading to experience the Japanese exercise called Shinrin-Yoku, or forest bathing. Forest bathing is so much more than a brisk walk. It is a process of relaxation as you learn to connect with nature and everything around you. The practice reduces stress, improves memory and offers calm and peaceful clarity. It is a process of relaxation, where you learn to be fully in the moment.
The practice will differ from season to season as the weather changes. If it’s dry and warm, you might lie down on a tree to experience the movements of the canopy above you. On colder days, more time is spent walking looking at different trees and exploring the woodland with your senses.
It’s easy to dismiss the benefits, but try it before you do. Trees connect our past, present and future. Unlock the power
