At The Macra Lab we create art using vintage postage stamps that celebrate Great Britain and beautiful handmade gifts.

My name is David and since 2015 I have been using vintage postage stamps to create beautiful pieces of art. Each one is totally unique due to the combinations of stamps and their markings. I love creating art using postage stamps as each one has a history and a story to tell. I believe each stamp is a work of art in its own right and should be celebrated and enjoyed.

My designs are inspired by icon shapes associated with Great Britain. These include the Queen, Union Jack and the iconic teapot. I also like to display the stamps in colourful assortments to display them in a unique and exciting way.

I love making stamp art, but I really enjoy making pieces that are personalised to the buyer or gift recipient. With stamps dating back over 100 years and with thousands of different designs, celebrating historic moments, people and the Royal Family there so many opportunities to personalise your piece to include colours, hobbies or interests.

Not limited to stamp art I also enjoy producing beautiful gifts for people to enjoy. Following a spell of furlough, I found a love for macrame and have since followed this passion.

After years of working a corporate 9-5, I am so excited to have taken the leap into building my small business and doing what I love; being creative and producing art and gifts for people to admire.
