Spend the day with an artisan cheese maker in the Yorkshire Dales in this hands-on cheese making experience.
A wonderful gift for foodies everywhere. Learn the art of cheese making from an artisan cheese maker in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales town of Reeth.
You will start the day with 500 litres of local milk and spend the day (approximately 6 hours) turning this into 55kg of various local cheeses. You will experience all aspects of cheese making including: waxing of the cheese, cheese grading and (the best bit!) cheese tasting. Simon keeps the course fun and informal and will encourage you to be as hands on as you want to be.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The price is for two people and includes a delicious lunch of local cheeses (of course!) and refreshments throughout the day.
You will be in a small group with other participants.
This is an experience most suited to adults but children (12 years and older) are welcome if they are accompanied by an adult.
This is a working experience where you will be fully involved in all the processes of cheese making in a working cheese factory.
Whilst the factory is suitable for wheelchair users the majority of the experience takes place at the cheese vats which are difficult to access from a wheelchair.
You will need, good strong shoes or clean wellies. Aprons and hairnets will be supplied.
This is an extremely popular experience which needs booking well in advance of the voucher expiry date to ensure you get your chosen dates.
