Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this engaging 3.5-hour session offers a unique opportunity to learn about caring for a variety of farm animals, including Highland cattle, British breed pigs, goats, chickens, and the South Devon beef herd.
The experience begins with a few essential farm tasks before a traditional, hearty English breakfast in the award-winning onsite café. During breakfast, participants will have the chance to discuss their interests and ask any questions before heading back out to the farm.
Activities vary depending on the season and the needs of the farm but may include feeding the animals, gathering the sheep, and working with the estate’s traditional drystone walls. Participants will also help feed the Highland cattle and, depending on the time of year, assist in moving livestock. The rare breed pigs will need feeding, and possibly relocating, while those looking for a physical challenge can get stuck into mucking out duties.
