Mushroom spawn is a living organism and that needs to be used within a certain time frame. That’s why at Urban Farm-It, we use a voucher system which can be redeemed for the living spawn once the recipient has sourced their log and is ready to start. Simply scan the QR code found within the main kit box and redeem your spawn at no extra cost.
The most natural way to grow Shiitake mushrooms is on hardwood logs using mushroom dowels. This is a gradual (6-12 months for first harvest) and low intensity method that can see you harvesting shiitake mushrooms for up to 8 years.
