Interlocking, geometrically identical shaped components, die-cut from opaque, white polypropylene sheets are used to create this sculptural light shade. A material chosen for its quality, durability and recyclability. Made in the UK by hand, each and every Smarty Lamp is fully assembled by us. To clean - use a duster regularly, or spray and wipe with cleaner or take off and wash in soapy water / shower it down. Just don't take any pieces out, remove the shade by pulling out the cable and bulb hrough the nearest gap.
Designed for use with ceiling pendant style light fittings; the stylish, non-electrical light shades are designed to fit on to a new or existing ceiling pendant cable.
The lampshade has the appearance of a solid shape. The light bulb is hidden fully enclosed inside the shade. Without any dominant opening, the light emission from the bulb is dispersed and filtered throughout the lampshade’s outer surface made up of clean curved gaps. So you don’t get that niggling glare from an exposed light bulb.
Installation is easy as the light shade comes packaged in a box, ready to use straight away. Simply take the shade out of the box, attach to the flex above the light bulb, suspend from the ceiling then turn it on.
When installing there is no need to fit extra light fittings – The shades ‘self-grip’ around the flex. The light bulb and lampholder at the end of the pendant lighting cable hanging from the ceiling rose, is inserted through one of the narrow gaps in the structure of the shade and simply slots into the centre of the nearest ‘joint‘ of FIVE flaps (where the corners meet) which holds it in place. PLEASE be careful to not undo the connecting pieces. Push the bulb through a gap, avoid undoing any part of the structure. If they pop out, slot back in, bending back underneath the existing 'flaps' or corners of the pieces. ADVICE ON LIGHT BULBS
We recommend CFL and LED energy saving light bulbs from 8W to 12W which is equivalent to a 60 watt incandescent bulb. Use Golf ball, candle or Corn style bulbs if the shade is small or narrow. Do not use the old style incandescent, filament bulbs, as they get too hot. Only use bulbs up to a maximum of 40 watts (40W).
To clean - use a duster regularly, or spray and wipe with cleaner or take off and wash in soapy water / shower it down. Just don't take any pieces out, remove the shade by pulling out the cable and bulb hrough the nearest gap.
Although this circular design appears to look round like a sphere, globe or ball, geometry describes this as a Dodecahedron shape– made up of 12 Interconnected Pentagons.
