The leather we use is an oiled cowhide. We have specifically chosen this leather because it does not have a heavily manufactured synthetic finish. You can see the variations and history of the hide through the oiled finish. In some instances this means the leather will not have a completely consistent single coloured finish. You will be able to see any natural scratches, spots and colour variations that existed on the hide before being oiled.
The oiled nature of the leather is such that just through the process of sending them in the post they often arrive with a slight marks. A history of the bumps and bashes they received in the post, inconsistencies in the finish of the leather. There may be light scratches to the leather, these are all superficial marks which are characteristic of this leather and as soon as the slippers are worn the marks will change as they begin to acquire the patina of wear.
These slippers are a handmade product made in a leather workshop in a very low tech, old fashioned way. Sometimes a little glue may be visible on the inside of the slipper although we try to avoid this. There can be some marking on the inside of the slippers as the shoe lasting process which gives the slippers their shape can cause denting and slight colour change on the internal sole of the slipper in places. Please feel free to ask questions about anything described here if you are concerned.
Slippers are sized to UK men's sizes, they are quite wide fitting.
A pair of size 10 slippers weighs 0.5 kg.
