"With a resistance against increasing use of technology my aim is to create art that not only celebrates nature but also come from natural resources.
Amber Marie's passion for flowers, pattern, colour and collecting have inspired her to create artworks that have been developed into prints, cards and other decorative and jewellery items. Over the years the artist picked and collected flowers from her visits to gardens, parks, woodland walks, charity shops and car boot sales. With a collection of 5 flower presses she set to work to create these innovative yet simple designs. I have used a white background as I love the way the colours stand out and how the flowers look like they are almost dancing on the page."
Having been brought up in Bristol and with parents from the hippy generation I have been inspired by the Flower Power movement and Banksy and in particular his artwork "Love Is in The Air" (Flower Thrower) design which replicates a bunch of flowers in a symbolic appeal for peace to replace violence."
"At one time during my life I have felt the metaphor of being like a bunch of flowers in a shattered vase. I also have memories of dancing at parties in fields and Festivals with a metaphor of being a Wildflower - A free spirit, growing wild and free in a world plagued by conformity.
My work often tells a story that is connected to colour. My focus is to create products that uplift the spirits and inspire creativity.
"When times are grey and when things look bleak, I believe we have to try to create our own magic and bring colour to the world in whichever way we can."
I initially started selling on notonthehighstreet.com in 2007. After working for jewellery and textile companies in London and New York I decided I wanted to start my own business, selling my own jewellery and accessory products. I sold online and to up to 40 retail shops in the UK, including White Stuff (the retail clothing chain ). In recent years I trained to be an Art Teacher, but my passion for designing and making has led me to restart this business and create jewellery which focuses on the theme of colour- which I love! My product themes are focussed around gifting occasions such as Mother’s Day and Christmas.
