Hello, I'm Carmela! Mum to 3, dog mummy, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, full time motion graphic designer. Human! Sole creator of Close-Up Creations.
In 2016, I created my first portrait using hundreds of individual photographs, for a special person. What began as a one-of-a-kind gift sparked an idea. Since then it's been a goal of mine to produce more, with the hope of launching a new business.
As a mother of three with a full-time job, I lacked time, which prevented me from achieving my goals. Working from home since the 2020 Covid lockdown has given me more hours, no more four-hour commutes a day, hours that I've decided to devote to creating these visual arts.
2020 Christmas I wanted to do something special in honour of my sister (Toni), who died in 2017 at the young age of 40. I wanted to use photography to document her life. What a lovely, if brief, life she led, and what wonderful memories she left behind.
A single image, which was rich in Toni's beautiful lifetime with us, photos from when we were children, to Toni's wedding, to becoming a mother, to her final days.
Then Close-Up Creations was born.
Your collection of photographs arranged in a way that when viewed up close, you have a collage, but when viewed from a distance, your most prized photograph.
A fantastic way to use all of your photos in one place.
Portraits benefit from at least 70 individual photographs. The more photos you have, the better. When the portrait is made up of 600 or more individual photos, the results are the best. Because there are approximately 3500 tiles, photos will be repeated, but the same photo will be arranged in different locations. Individual photograph tiles measure approximately 1 to 2 cm square.
