ABOUT KOTRYNA

El&So was founded by Kotryna Lewin in 2015. Kotryna was born in Lithuania, studied law in Estonia and France and practised as a French avocat in Paris for five years. After she met her American husband they moved to London where Kotryna became an English solicitor.

In her career as a busy attorney Kotryna struggled to find all-natural beauty products that looked and felt as good as some of the popular commercial brands. In her quest for exceptional natural skincare Kotryna explored her family’s long tradition with handmade cosmetics. In particular, her grandmother’s aunt was famous in Lithuanian aristocratic circles for making beautiful bespoke cosmetics from natural ingredients. Her grandmother taught Kotryna the secrets of these precious blends and traditional remedies.

Kotryna used this expertise to make her own products, updating time-tested formulas with modern botanical actives and sensorial textures. What started as a hobby soon grew as friends and family reported wonderful benefits on their own skin. Ailments of modern life – stress, eczema, acne – all soothed by Kotryna’s little pots of magic! As word spread, Kotryna decided to leave her legal career to focus on building a unique skincare business. El&So was born - named after her identical twin girls: Elena and Sofia.
