Modern botanical giclee prints and cards, all painted in Wales
I am a professional contemporary artist with a background in painting conservation. After working in museums and galleries for many years I returned to my first love of painting, following in the footsteps of my grandmother and great-grandfather before me.
Inspiration comes from the coast and countryside around me. My studio overlooks the beautifully rugged Gower coastline and this is where I paint all of my original watercolours.
Master printmakers based here in Wales expertly make all of my giclee prints. After printing, they are sent back to my studio for me to gild by hand using 24K gold leaf. I use the exact same techniques for gilding my prints as I did when restoring old frames.
My greetings cards are miniature artworks in themselves, taken directly from my original paintings. I hand-picked the highest quality watercolour card stock to print them on and use a specialist print company based in the UK.
Bring the outdoors in. Painted, printed and packed in Wales.
A career in the arts
My background is in painting conservation and I studied at the Courtauld Institute of Art and worked in the conservation studios at the National Museum of Wales and the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.
The knowledge I gained while working in conservation is still applied to all areas of my painting: from materials and techniques to expert packaging, making sure your prints and cards reach you in the beautiful condition in which they were made.
I was invited to create paintings for the prestigious Art on a Postcard Summer Auction 2020 as an "exceptional artist...whose work stands out as challenging conventions and breaking new ground." Previous artists to have taken part are Damien Hirst, Grayson Perry, Gilbert and George and many more.
I am represented by the Cambridge Contemporary Art Gallery and have been exhibited throughout the South East. My paintings have been featured in The Times newspaper and artist publications. I am a member of the a-n.
