An illustrated art print of the Christmas lights in Oxford Street, London
Oxford Street London, turns quite magical at Christmas. It's the beautiful strings of hanging lamps across, like a blanket of snow balls under the dark inky skies.
The red double deckers, offering a stark contrast against the silhouettes of gothic buildings and a bokeh of white lights. The old Routemasters occasionally make an appearance on the streets. They save the day in the event of tube shut downs, when Londoners are treated to a barrage of colourful reds, blues and green route masters, weaving their way through London streets. The Routemaster celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2014 and when I see them today, I often wonder - how are they still running!I look forward to walks in Oxford Street in the weeks before Christmas.
The whiff of roasted chestnuts in the air, the longing for spiced mulled wine, the fine window display at Selfridges... that time of the year when I don't mind the menacing crowds, and love being in the middle of the thumping life in this street.
