FanBass 442

From its design concept at Uni in Glasgow in 2010, after 3x working prototypes and many refinements over the years, we have finally brought it to life...

My name is Scott, lead designer of the Fanbass 442 series wireless speaker. Whilst at Uni in Glasgow back in 2010 I designed this as part of a course I was on at the time. I then decided to take it further and try launch the product to the market. Only back then I had no money and working part time, so I had to apply for government grants to try get a working prototype, I was lucky enough to win a competition and grant money for £2,000 which saw my design brought to life by way of a working prototype via a partner University of their choosing. I then got as far as the Semi Finals of a design competition for seed money via the "Scottish Edge".

Unfortunately, life got in the way and unforeseen circumstances saw me having to shelf my idea until i was in a better position. Then, many years later, at the start of summer 2023 I decided to re-visit my plan, I spent the next few months researching and contacting manufacturers all over the Globe, in efforts to secure a partner to make the units. I then found one based in China, having spoken with them many times over video call and emails I was happy to take the plunge and order a sample run. From there a few refinements were made and we have the final version that you see today, which fits the market best. It's about half the size the original was intended to be and this one includes a wireless mobile charger as well......which didn’t exist when I first designed it back in 2010.
