They enjoy a bright spot, hung in a window is ideal, and as they don't grow roots there is no need for soil.

An airplant can be watered in two ways; by submerging the whole plant in water and leaving it for an hour or so, roughly weekly or by spraying with water every other day. If soaking, it's important to shake all the excess off and allow to air dry, upside down if possible, so that no water pools in the middle of the plant.

The plant will flower once it has reached maturity and then produce offsets. These offsets will grow into new plants and the parent plant will die back. This is a normal part of the life cycle of an airplant.
