Our Story

Creatively collaborating with 780 eSwatini women weavers to create soulful homeware to ignite change on a community level

In 2007 Natasha Tillie established Gone Rural UK as a means to bring the Gone Rural collection to Britain. Natasha was first introduced to Gone Rural when she purchased a set of placemats from the Gone Rural store in eSwatini, filled with pleasure in knowing her purchase was not only a beautiful gift, but that the transaction offered prosperity to the talented artisans who produced it. During this initial trip, Natasha came to assist at Gone Rural and experienced first hand her joy was shared by the rural women producing them. Today, each purchase offers that same gift of empowerment; stability to all 750 women Gone Rural works with.

Via our retail partners & online, British homes are now being filled with the sweet smell of the lutindiz grass, direct from the mountains & fields of eSwatini. We remain eagerly committed to offering further choice & accessibility online, born of the continuing opportunities we are able to offer our talented weavers.
