Gray Starling Designs was a small home run business founded in 2014 by Carolyn Sugiura, predominantly to design and create beautiful, graphic led paper products as a hobby.

Now, Gray Starling Designs is a full time unique and wonderful design studio led by Carolyn and is based in the heart of Roundhay, North Leeds.

Carolyn has a degree in surface pattern and textiles and over 16 years experience in the fashion design, development and manufacturing industry.

The studio is about creating new and authentic design led homeware and stationery products. With a love for vibrant colour and a penchant for British made, Carolyn creates big bold maximalist patterns and strives to make beautiful lively pieces of practical art .

The growth of the British manufacturing industry is at the centre of the business and with that in mind only British, and often local to the studio, high quality manufacturers are used to produce all the handmade products in the store.
