The Indy Coffee Guide

About The Guides

For brew freaks and bean geeks

For over a decade the award-winning Indy Coffee Guide series has revealed to coffee fans where they can sip and source the very best speciality-grade coffee in the UK

The first Indy Coffee Guide was published for the South West in 2014. As a result of requests from the speciality coffee community, it was quickly followed in 2015 by a guide for the north of England, and in the years since the team have created guides for Scotland, Ireland, Wales and London.

The guides are created by independent design, publishing and marketing company Salt Media in north Devon in association with a committee of leading coffee experts in each area. The experts help the Indy Coffee Guide team identify who should be invited into the guide, based on meeting the following criteria: commitment to a high quality coffee experience, use of UK-roasted speciality-grade beans, two brew methods or two coffees available at any time and independent ownership.

Salt Media is made up of a small, coffee-mad crew based in north Devon who champion all things independent, authentic and innovative. When they're not on caffeine-filled tours sniffing out new coffee destinations or working on the production of the next guide, you can find them at major coffee events and festivals taking place across the country.

  • "I bought the Indy Coffee Guide England: South for a coffee-obsessed friend for their birthday and they loved it. They've now purchased the full collection so wherever they go in the country they can find a great independent place for a brew. I also know that whenever I go to their place I'm guaranteed a tasty coffee as they now know all the best roasteries!"

  • "Lovely books that are full of excellent recommendations for coffee. Each book is beautifully laid out, with great photography and commentary on each coffee shop providing insight into some wonderful places to grab a cup of coffee. Throughout the book there are also sections shining the spotlight on local roasters that supply many of the shops in their respective regions."

"Get the full collection of guides or mix and match (and save money) by customising your own bundle. Editions are available for the South of England; North, Midlands & East of England; London; and Wales. Pimp the bundle with a copy of the guide’s spin-off recipe book, the Indy Cafe Cookbook, which gives readers the chance to recreate the speciality cafe experience at home through simple-to-make recipes (our faves include tiramisu french toast, anzac biscuits, and eggy crumpets with chilli jam."
