Hi, we're Khalifa and Shaun. An architect and designer with shared passions for sustainability and quality paper-goods!
We started Port West in 2018. It is a manifestation of many of things that drive us. Principally, our appreciation of well-made stationery and desire to make creative practice more sustainable. To do this, we work with local binders and makers to deliver stationery crafted with utmost thought for people and the planet. All our items are handmade or manufactured in the UK in support of local craft and to help keep carbon footprints down.
Our journey started with our notebooks. These are made with 100% recycled papers bound and finished with equally considered materials. Our notebook colours and designs are purposely understated. We hope these give them timeless and refined qualities that sees them buck trends and suit many lifestyles. We also love seeing their covers personalised with your own ingenuity!
As part of our efforts to offer the most planet-kind products, we are attentive to the welfare of animals. Our notebooks are vegan-friendly and made with natural, cruelty-free materials, inks and dyes. With our A5/03 notebooks (the slim exercise-style ones) we donate 5% of the revenue generated from their sale. This contribution goes to support the development of creative subjects in areas of the globe where such fields of study are traditionally underfunded.
We truly want to create neutral products (in composition and finish) of exceptional quality that give back to people and the planet and encourage you to put pen to paper! We believe everyone has a bountiful supply of ideas within them. Ideas that are waiting to be explored and could enrich the lives of many others. In addition, we value the wonders jotting and sketching does for our mental well-being.
