Getting Britain Growing-Its-Own
One sunny weekend in lockdown, we realised that loads of our mates fancied the idea of growing-their-own veg and herbs on their patios and balconies. Trouble was, no one had a clue what to grow or how to grow it. Our group chat felt like Gardeners' Question Time for Dummies.
Plus most of the gardening companies out there were pretty, well, 'gardeningy' and serious, so not much help for beginners.
We thought it was a good idea to start pulling people out of the 'grow-your-own' sink-hole of internet advice. To show them that they don't need to be no Monty Don to grow fresh, varied, tasty food at home.
We started back in August 2020 with a handful of growers in our gang. Now we're getting thousands of beginners growing veg and herbs each month, experiencing the mental and physical benefits of homegrown grub.
We're well chuffed to have been named one of The Telegraph's Top 23 Independent Brands and to have been IndyReviews Recommended in 2021.
The Telegraph: "Grow-your-own fruit, veg and herb boxes for gardeners with more enthusiasm than experience."
The Evening Standard: “My ambition is to create the biggest gang of reformed plant killers in the world. I’m a bit of a beginner too which in a way is good because I can relate to them. I work out through a few different sources what the best advice is — and I ask my Nan!”
Indy Reviews: "Set up during lockdown, you could be forgiven for thinking that Pot Gang was offering something far different than plants for your garden. But all jokes aside, this is a brilliant gardening subscription box with plenty of fun."
Radio 4: "24-year-old Londoner Sam Smith started growing his own food in lockdown - and then set up Pot Gang, to share his new obsession."
Metro: "His seedling subscription service took off in the height of the pandemic last year, as the gardening trend took off (especially with millennials) and more people started caring about their plants."
