Beautiful, unique and thought-provoking art for your walls and home
I am an illustrator and printmaker from Dorset working mainly in the medium of linocut. This is a technique of printmaking where a design is carved into linoleum and then printed onto paper using specialist inks. I create a mix of limited and open edition prints, using these designs on cards, mugs, bags and other wearable or homeware products.
I have a sunny studio in Bridport where I design and make all my work. I'm very much inspired by my local surroundings and sense of place; creating beautiful, thought-provoking and emotionally engaging linocut prints using ethically sourced materials and methods.
My designs are quirky and unique: I create imagined worlds that examine femininity, empowerment, sisterhood & family connection whilst taking inspiration from folklore, history, myths, stories and nature.
I celebrate and champion womanhood in all its glory; creating imagery that appeals to the modern, independent woman; connecting on both an emotional and aesthetic level.
The process behind my prints
I am an illustrator, specialising in the Linocut technique. I first carve my design into a sheet of linoleum using specialist engraving tools, using a mix of V-shaped chisel and gouges to achieve a variety of effects. The un-carved areas show a reversed image once printed. The carved linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed onto paper. I use a wonderful etching press to create my prints.
