Description

As with all things made of wood, every coaster is totally unique, but of course, some are “more unique” than others.

It goes without saying that these stunning coasters would make an ideal gift for most occasions. People tend to notice them when used at parties, and there is always something calming about placing your tea or coffee onto a coaster that just oozes craftsmanship.

Many of these coasters use the most stunning pieces of timber I have collected, which are often too small and/or too expensive to use on larger pieces of furniture.

Most people prefer to have a matching set of the same timber, while some prefer to start their collection of different woods.

Variations

Available in Black Walnut, Brown Oak, Rippled Sycamore (close ripples - ie short wave, and larger ripples - ie long wave ) and Yew.

Made from

Available in a range of sustainably grown hardwoods from Europe and North America. Some of the most striking ones, such as rippled sycamore, are often only available from specialist suppliers of woods for musical instrument makers.

Others, particularly the Yew, are usually only available on an ad-hoc basis because larger timber merchants are not interested in a wood which exhibits so much stunning variation even within one small board. That of course, is what makes it so appealing to me, at least for the smaller items such as this.

Care;

After testing many finishes, I have only found one that still looks good after a glass has stood in red wine on it for half an hour. Even so, wipe spillages dry and do not put them in the dishwasher.

Clean with warm soapy water as necessary.
